Advisory

Most engagements start with one question and grow from there.

Roy works with a small number of owners and executives. The work usually includes some combination of the following.

Strategic Decisions

Partnerships, disputes, key hires, restructurings, and decisions that haven't taken shape yet. The work starts with defining the problem, then laying out the options honestly and thinking through how each one plays out across the business.

Seeing Across the Business

How a legal decision affects the finances. How a financial decision affects the team. How an operational change affects the brand. Seeing those connections early is almost always cheaper than fixing them later.

Choosing and Working with Advisors

For a specific matter, Roy identifies the right lawyer, accountant, or other professional, sets a sensible scope and fee, and keeps the engagement focused on the client's outcome. He also advises on how much outside advice a company actually needs, which is sometimes more than it has and sometimes less.

Buying, Selling, and Growing

Acquisitions, sales, and the path toward outside investment or going public. Roy works with owners to evaluate the strategy, assemble the right team, and test the terms, keeping the process tied to what they actually want.

Personal Matters

Business and personal concerns rarely stay separate. Clients bring Roy questions about succession and estate planning, investments, family transitions, and the other decisions that shape life outside the company, and he gives them the same care as the business.
